Mason's 10 colleges and schools cover the gamut of academic disciplines. In addition to established programs, students also have the opportunity for interdisciplinary and integrative studies, and can craft their own degree programs.听

Ranked in the top 50 best law schools by U.S. News & World Report, we are strategically located in Arlington, Va., just two miles from Washington, D.C., giving our students easy access to hundreds of opportunities and legal resources. Conflict isn鈥檛 new. But its escalation in recent times calls for more creative intervention strategies and skilled peacekeepers. Mason was the first university in the world to offer graduate degrees in conflict resolution. Today, we continue to lead in research, teaching and real-world practice. With an influential faculty, a diverse student body and an emphasis on fieldwork, the school produces top practitioners who are participating in conflict resolution in neighborhoods here at home and around the globe.

There will always be a need for great teachers. At the College of Education and Human Development鈥檚 Graduate School of Education, we offer 27 academic programs, such as English as a second language, special education and education policy, as well as advanced studies for teachers and school leaders. In addition, students in the School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism can earn a degree in some of today鈥檚 top trending areas, such as sports management, athletic training, kinesiology, tourism, hospitality and events management. In fact, the school has doubled its undergraduate enrollment in just seven years and shows no signs of slowing down.

What used to be 鈥淣orthern Virginia鈥檚 best-kept secret鈥 is now one of the country鈥檚 largest, most comprehensive schools of engineering and computing. We are on the radar and on a roll, adding new programs, attracting more top faculty and expanding vital research. Students can concentrate in a number听of socially relevant themes of their choice, including bioengineering, robotics (drones and beyond), sustainable infrastructure, health care technologies, global outreach, statistics, information technology, computer science,听and cyber security鈥攃ritical to defending our networks and one of the most sought-after degrees. Our close relationships with a number of corporate partners also gives students opportunities to apply their classroom learning to real-world situations to help make the world safer, cleaner and healthier.

The arts engage, inspire and entertain us. They open our eyes to different points of view and are an important component of any well-rounded education. The College of Visual and Performing Arts offers degrees in art, dance, film and video studies, music, theater, arts management, art education, and computer game design. Students have the opportunity to study alongside internationally renowned visiting artists, showcase their work in public exhibits, and perform onstage at one of our many campus venues, including the Center for the Arts. In addition, you can find plenty of artistic inspiration in nearby Washington, D.C.

The Schar School of Policy and Government provides Mason students with the skills, knowledge, and analytical abilities to be future leaders and managers in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Our proximity to Washington, D.C., offers access to numerous internship and career opportunities with policymakers, think tanks, global companies, nonprofits, and consulting firms. Our faculty includes former directors of the CIA, ambassadors, and key practitioners throughout Washington. We offer 13 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as eight graduate certificate programs. In 2019, U.S. News & World Report ranked us No. 2 in the country for security studies programs relating to intelligence, counterterrorism, and emergency management.
